I have just recently purchased the 2TB seagate expansion drive you mention, [for £65 from the local Curry's store in town ... they matched the online price ... ] and will probably buy another one ... before they are sold out.

I believe the seagates cheap because they have another model out priced at £81

The slighty, more expensive, 2TB seagate model you mention, has backup software included on the drive, which most people might find, is, 'surplus to their requirements'.

I certainly wouldn't be in need of it,different case as well with an activity light i believe

There is a blue 'activity light' on the topside of the cheaper model ... it 'blinks' when reading/writing data and 'steady' when no data movement.

Answer

The usb 3.0 cable that comes with the 2TB seagate expansion desktop drive is 4 feet in length. [... the product barcode is 7 636490 037948 ] and is assembled in Thailand / product of China (HDD), it says so, on the box.
