What do you guys think will suit me better, im going to be a gamer with internet usage, music downloads, just your normal stuff.

Going to have a ATI Radeon 5970 2GB which i wont be looking to overclock.

Would you say the I7 is worth forking out the extra cash for?? What would the benefits be?

After having a scoot around im still undecided and would like some advice.

Mike

you wanna go with the i7 if you are spending this much on a graphics card

btw that graphics card is pointless if you arent using more than one monitor

can't comment on the machine spec (I have a i7 x980 & I think it's considered that Intel i7 have the edge over AMD) but the grfx card is superb - although not sure what AL47 is saying really. On the iiyama monitor you should be pleased with it. I have the 27" & it is probably the best monitor I have ever had. Enjoy.

Thanks for the replies guys.

not sure what that means either, unless everybody who has bought a 5970 and not used eyefinity have completely wasted their money :S thats news to me. Its a pretty puka bit of kit.

If the Intel "just has the edge" i might stick with the AMD, its a pretty steep jump up if im not going to see a great difference.

a 5870 will run any game fine on 1920x1200

thats the monitor i have and i have a 5850, the only game which i cannot play on full settings is crysis and crysis warhead

so if i wanted to play that one game on maximum settings id be paying £250 more for the privilege,

each to their own but £250 doesnt seem like good value for 1 game.

for me, the max resolution i play is 1920x1200 on a dell U2410 IPS panel

my 5850 plays without lag on gamer settings, theres only one level above this, enthusiast, to play with this you would need the 5870, thats £300

the 5970 is £500, and no game out there really uses it.

the next game on the list the 5850 can easil cope with on ultra high, so all you are paying for is crysis at top settings

of course if you run multi monitor eyefinity then its a different story
