I've just received Aldi's newsletter.

On Sunday 22nd March they will be offering 2 x HDMI leads for £6.99.
These are a real bargain.

No, sorry I wont be, PalaeoBill, I'm busy elsewhere. ;-)

If you go to Home Solutions, you can buy gold plated(!) HDMI leads for £2.99.

Just how good they are is open to question (or trial)...:-)

I recently bought a Belkin 0.9m High Speed Ethernet cable from Poundland for (guess!).

It boosted my connection speed by at least half a Mb.

The HDMI cables Aldi sell are first class and gold plated.
I am using one at the moment and have never had a problem.

I have found all their leads and connector packs are top quality.
Their cameras are not so good though.

Some Canon discounted cameras are far superior.
A PowerShot A560 at Argos recently was selling for £50. They went like hot cakes.

You missed the point that the HS equivalents were cheaper..:-)

However, neither will be quite as good as a top quality HDMI cable.

Re the Canon Powershot models - I've recommended them, including the A560, on several occasions in these forums.

The Argos price of around £58 was quite remarkable at the time.

One of the offspring has the A710IS.

The price/quality of a HDMI cable should not make any difference to picture quality. They transmit a digital signal with no conversion to do.

I'm with you on this one.

If a cheap cable works, why pay more.

A fool and his money are soon parted.
