Advice please - which of these two laptops?

Today or tomorrow I am getting another laptop with a budget of £450.

Being a big fan of Acer [already have two in the family] my choice is down to one of two :

1. click here

2.click here

Why Argos you may ask?

A family member works there so a 10% discount and interest-free period via the argos card.

So that's my choice - any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Personally I would go for Intel Core Duo before the AMD Turion.

One has 17" and the other 15" screen. Do you want portability and what is the main use of the laptop?

Thanks Woolwell.

Basically the laptop will be a desktop replacement but with the added functionality of being portable around the house and occasionally out and about.

No gaming but plenty of Office and Photoshop work.

Having a 17" screen is no advantage over the 15.4" it's just that this particular model has one!

Reading reviews re the choice of processor seems to favour the Intel Core Duo as you have said.

I'll let this thread run a while.Maybe there will be some more info and/or advice, but at the moment odds are in favour of the Intel based machine.

tough one

the big letdown for the intel is the graphics card

u wont stress a processor much [i find] so i dont find that an issue..tho intel is better

the intel has moore screen are, u mention photoshop, but has the poor card

for me it coomes down to

one has a bigger screen with poor actual graphics
one has a smaller screen with better graphics card
