advice on lightweight laptop

I have been looking for a really light weight laptop for my daughter who is a journalist. She needs word processing and wireless connectivity and long battery life. There seem to be very few on the market and PC advisor seems to only test those who advertise in the magazine. So far I have identiteid three that might be suitable, the Toshiba portege A100, Packard Bell A7145 and Advent 7066m. The last two come from PC world from whom I am not very keen to deal with and I am not sure that the Toshiba is still made. Do any of you experts out there have any suggestions preferably for less tahn £1000.
