Advice for electronic organiser

I'm looking for an organser for my wife. It's to replace several notebooks that record her various collections - thimbles, spoons, beanies - her own and grandchildren's - and whisky miniatures (in print that makes her look like a jackdaw!).

These notebooks fill her handbag, and as items are added when acquired they are not in alphabetical order. This results in long waits in shops while the list is checked (and sometimes purchase of a duplicate when an entry is missed).

She is not computer minded - technophobic is not too strong a word - but would like a single small organiser to replace the notebooks provided I do the technical bits.

My idea is to use my XP to keep master lists in a Works database and download them so she only has to look at them.

What is the simplest (and cheapest) organiser that will do this? I've found details of the Palm Tungsten E2 at £123 but wonder if anyone can offer advice.

Thanks.
