Acer Aspire One Netbook

Can anyone give me advice on this netbook? My daughter is considering buying it for her husband who saw one in John Lewis and expressed an interest. She has now asked my advice:-(

He is very keen on computers and has a full size laptop and PC. He also used to work in computers for IBM and loves gadgets.

I have looked at the spec and, whether it comes with XP or Linux, it seems to be a pretty specialised bit of kit BUT with no CD/DVD drive. How do you install your own software? It says it is wifi but that doesn't even look that straightforward.

Anybody got one?

I'd recommend instead the Asus EEEpc 701. Mine came with Linux but I put XP on from an external cd drive.
Wi-fi is easy to set up, it must be if I've done it!
Just bought a second one for my grandson's Xmas present.
There's a very handy online support forum at
