A3 Photo printing

  siouxah1 22:37 21 May 05

I have been investigating inkjet printers for use as A3 photo printer.

Two are in mind at the moment. Both Canon.
The i6500 and the i9950.

Does anyone have user knowledge of either of these?

Does anyone have knowledge of the quality of photo printing output?

Any information gratefully received.

You can find an in-depth review of the Canon ip8500 model here: click here I suspect that is similar to the ip9950 that you are considering - perhaps an earlier model.

Thanks for that Pesala,
That site did in fact lead me to a review of the i9950.

Having read the review I am sold on that model, and have one on order.

The only thing that seems to come up in respect of Canon, is that the inks are fading over a fairly short time. But then, I will have an original file to reprint. Not sure how permanent other makers inks are, other than the pigment route.

Although this post is closed I would just like to say that my friend has just won two first awards in a photographic competition with two digital pictures printed at A3 on an Epson 1290 Photo printer. click here

Thanks for the reference pj123,

I did not consider the epson, I was not really aware of it's existance.

I chose Canon because of the excellent write ups. Most of all is the fact that print heads can be easilly and quickly replaced by the user. Not to mention that I have a Canon 7000 running still after seven years.

A Hewlett Packard I had gave up the ghost at two years. I have problems with an older Epson in that the print heads are frequently clogging.

I favour the Canons at the moment. I must be biased.( Or is that BIOS'd.)!!

Thanks anyway.
