I have the Creative Inspire T7700 7.1 connected to a hercules digifire 7.1 and it is good. Sound on DVDs and CDs is excellent, although having said that there is not a great difference between that and a set of 5.1 that I had.

I got them for a little over £100 including delivery from overclockers.co.uk a few months ago. I think that for your budget of £150, the T7700 are as good as you will get.

Thats what I thought. Cheers for that, just one final question.

Is £35 for a 1500W 5.1 set good?

Is £35 for a 1500W 5.1 set good? - no idea, I'm afraid. It all depends on what you want them for - personal recommendation is the best thing - or at least the option to test them out before buying them.

If you stick to Creative, Logitech, Altec Lansing and similar top brands you won't go far wrong.

My local Staples store has a comparator setup, allowing you to switch between up to eight sets of speakers - if you have one near you might have a similar feature.

But to get the best quality - particularly the sound which, after all is the point of the exercise - you will need to pay quite a bit.

Flimsy boxes do not good speakers make...:-)
