Vista Backup to XP Machine

I have a Vista Home Premium laptop that I want to backup to an XP PC. It seems as though it's not possible to backup to XP across a network - something to do with sharing and Vista insisting on having password for the backup process...

Then there's the problem that Vista backup will not allow you to backup the drive that you're backing up on to - seems sensible, however, quite limiting if you don't have more than one drive...

N'theless, to get round my first problem, I was planning on creating a backup file on my Vista machine and then simply copy and paste it to the XP machine. However, given the second restriction I seem a bit stuck with that too (also, I suspect with all these restrictions, Vista Backup would find some way of having a hissing fit with me for doing that in any case).

So, where does that leave me? I don't really know. Anyone any thoughts or experience to share on this gritty issue?

Cheers
