Shush.........! its a Mac

  Diemmess 20:09 22 Jun 07

This forum is the best I've come across and many contributing professionals have Mac experience as well as Windows PC.

So..... I have been given a working Mac
It is a G4 Power PC version 2.1
Dual 867MHz and 768Mb RAM

It is incredibly heavy. Very fancy tower shape with no straight lines and lots of clear and silvery acrylic.

The monitor is a 17" TFT type with a cable which is both power and signal and it too has a fancy plug of a type that is foreign to me.

Probably 3-4 years loaded with all sorts of designer type apps.

I simply have no room to keep the thing in service and will probably advertise it on eBay.

Can anyone point me to a site where I can download manuals for it please?

It would be nice to know a bit more about it.

Thanks for prompt answer.
Perhaps I didn't ask the right question?

This is a tower shape but I'm not sure what name the model was given by Apple Mac.

It is neither a powerbook nor a cube.

I have found out how to open the box, There is a huge recessed ring-pull on the right side which allows the whole side with memory and slots to swing down like a safe door.

Phew..... the dust in there would fill a small vacc bag.
Looks like it spent its working life in a dusty corner instead of a smart purpose-built design studio!

I was thinking it must be a Powermac G4, good guess, Technotiger.

You accepted a Mmmmac...ugh. What a burden, sorry you have to carry such a load. Take photo, post on ebay and sell...

From Technotiger's link it is a ringer for "Apple Mac G4 Desktop"

From looking at the files on there now mostly empty, I think it has been at the mercy of younger grandchildren since it ceased to be a design tool.
There are some fancy fonts which I may be able to register on my PC.

It is headed soon for eBay.
A collect-only, or a 2 parcel job since the bare tower alone weighs in at around 18Kg!

My wife thinks it is VERY pretty.

Thanks everyone.
