You have an old printer which isn't compatible with AirPrint nor does HP supply an app for it. What you are trying to do may not be possible. You could try Print N Share but it is not free and I don't know if it would work.

I have 'printed' from my Android tablet, will work for iPad also

Simply Email the item to yourself

Pick up the mail on your XP machine

Use 'save as' to a folder

Start word processor load the file ,edit out unwanted bits or add as required

Save and print

Google 'let's print droid' an App for Android devices

It utilised CUPS which is the open source Common Universal Printing System developed by Apple for Mac O/S

So your Ipad should have a chance providing an iPad sports an 'out(host)USB socket

Sparky-Jack - iPads do not have an out USB socket!

SparkyJack - You can get adaptors but I have had an iPad for several years now and haven't missed a USB port at all. It syncs with my pc effortlessly. The same is true of my iPhone. I had a Samsung Android phone before and that was a real effort to sync.
