Pc Macbook network issue

I have a PC with XP (SP2)and a macbook both connected (ethernet and wirelessly respectively) to an Airport Extreme router to the internet (cable). So far so good.
But...I cannot connect the Mac to the PC (does not show up on network) or vice versa to share files.

I have set PC for sharing/networking. Tried with windows firewall/zonealarm off, can ping the router and macbook from pc but not see macbook in My Computer.

Apple helpline have said they think PC problem (and I agree after following their instructions to connect).

Any thoughts gratefully received. I expect there is a simple thing I need to do to make it work but have struggled so far to know what it is.

Thanks
Luke
