Network problem MAC bridge miniport disconnected

Please please please help!
Trying to network a desk top and notebook. Win xp pro on 1, home on other.
Every time it tries to 'configure your computer' it hangs and says MAC Bridge Miniport is disconnected. On rebooting I am unable to connect to the internet because it can't find my (ADSL) modem.
Had to reinstall windoze twice to 'fix' it.

Would be very greatful for any ideas?

Go into the Network connections on the oc connected to the mosem and remove the Bribge then reboot and run the network wizard again but dont let windows choose the optios for you as it will bridge the nics again.

It worked! Yay!

I had tried to delete the offending bridge, but it wouldn't let me do anything to any connections as it said other connection properties were open (it lied!) hence the reinstalls. I was far too trusting of micro$oft$ 'recommended' options.

Thanks for the advice.
