I have an external hard drive which was used on a mac. I no longer have access to the mac and need to convert it for use on a windows 7 or vista computer.
Is there any free conversion software available or if not paid for that is good and anyone can recommend. Thanks in advance.

Do you still need anything on the drive?

Yes, I need quite a bit of the information. After that I want to use it as an external drive for my windows pc.

Sorry I don't know then I thought you just wanted to be able to use it blank on PC.

Thanks anyway. I should have said I needed some of the files converting first.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I have tried the link and the only thing that is showing up is the software for the drive. Thanks for the suggestion.
I don't know what else to try. Maybe I'll have to give up the stored info and just reformat it.

Doesn't Linux handle HFS partitions?

Boot up a Linux distro on the Windows machine with a LiveCD (don't install, run from CD) and the Mac drive connected.

Copy files to the NTFS drive.
Reformat the MAC drive.

Google "linux hfs drive" or whatever for more info. I've not done it myself.

Thanks for reply. I will try it when I get back and let you know. :)
