This may help - although when it comes to Win 7's "Password protected sharing" option I'd be inclined to set it to off.

I posted this on the other one. Please close it so as to avoid duplication.

They interface to the same network without any special problems unless you get password problems. Can you say exactly what your problem is. Personally I don't use the W7 homegroup system and just disable both the Sending and receiving Services then simply allow each machine to automatically negotiate its IP and set the router to act as a DNS Server. This will only allow access to public docs and nothing on the C Drive. There is a registry hack which allows this but at the risk of reduced security, This is not a problem if both machines are yours and no one else has access.

Also Have you made all the drives on both machines set to be shared.
