Handover security

I've had an odd problem recently where my iPhone is showing the handoff symbol for safari on the lock screen. If I open it up it just lags out on an empty page on safari. The strange thing is I know that my iPad is at home switched off and I'm at work? Why would the handover symbol appear when I know my iPad is switched off? It's happened twice from what I can recall, I just ignored it the first time round. It's the only devices I have that are linked. What worries me is that you need to be logged in on the same account, on the same wifi and Bluetooth on and now I've convinced myself someone at work is logged in on my account.

Any help would be appreciated.
