Excel macro compatibility??

  Chris the Ancient 20:20 19 Oct 03

I have been developing an Excel workbook in Excel XP with a Do While... Loop execution in it. Works fine in Excel XP.

However, some users will need to use the workbook in older versions of Excel (probably anything from '95 upwards).

I have a feeling that I saw somewhere that there might be backwardly (?) compatability problems with macros. But, I don't have an old version of Excel in the house to try it on!

Will a simple...

Do While ActiveCell = Date
Application.Run "xxxxxxxx"

Be OK in older Excel?

It should be - certainly as far back as Excel 6.

Like you, I don't have an earlier version to try it on.

I once developed an application in Excel 6 and encountered problems (resolved) when porting it to Excel 97. However, my recollection is that loops etc. worked in exactly the same way.

I'm glad you were on-line and I was desperately hoping that was the answer!

One happy bunny!
