eMachines and memory upgrade

  Dorkins 21:49 31 May 07

I purchased a cheap desktop computer "eMachines E4210" running Windows Vista Basic with 512MB of memory and although only a couple of months old is now in need of a memory upgrade. I have tried the Crucial Memory site but they don't list the model i have. So does anyone have any experience with this manufacturer and advise me on how i might safely and successfully upgrade the memory on this computer please. Big thanks

If its not listed its presumably because its too new, therefore I would phone them, they might have the specs on it and just haven't added it to their site yet.
Worth a try anyway. My mate had an Emachine and it was very touchy about what memory it would accept.

If I remember correctly I used CPU-Z click here to identify the motherboard in my eMachine E4212.

A quick search on the Crucial site provided details of what I needed to upgrade from 1Gb to 2Gb.

As there's only two memory slots on mine I had to replace both modules.
