You can put a P4 2.8Ghz northwood 533fsb in it

or

a P4 2.8Ghz northwood 400fsb

or

a celeron 2.8Ghz northwood 400fsb.

Not much of an upgrade.:-(

Thanks for the info Strawballs and ed-0.
I'm getting the impression that 2.8Ghz CPU is the max for my motherboard. I thought it might have gone up to 3.0Ghz or slightly beyond. As I already have a 2.4Ghz processor, I don't think I would see much of an improvement for my money.

If you're not opposed to the principle of overclocking, and you don't mind fiddling around a bit and maybe investing in a better cooler, you should be able to overclock a 2.8 Northwood by up to 20%, giving around 3.36GHz. Depends on whether the m/b supports overclocking.
I have a 3.2 Northwood running happily and cool at 3.85GHz.

Enter your bios on start up. Have you a heading for frequency/voltage control?

Enter this. You should see a setting for " cpu fsb clock Mhz". Open this you can then alter the fsb by 1Mhz at a time. Probably a 10% will be ok to start with, so you could whack it upto 2.64Ghz. Alter the cpu vcore adjust to yes, if it is shown.

Save settings and exit.

See if the machine boots to windows and if it is stable.

If it is, try and whack it up a bit more.

If at anytime it will not boot, just clear the cmos jumper or take the cmos battery out for 10 minutes to reset the cmos back to factory defaults.
