Do you have an Apple G4 Powerbook laptop?

  Forum Editor 19:39 19 Aug 04

Apple is recalling 28,000 faulty batteries used to power its 15-inch Powerbook G4 laptops, and if you have purchased one of these machines since January of this year you should check to see if you are affected.

The batteries concerned will have the model number A1045 and serial numbers that begin with HQ404, HQ405, HQ406, HQ407 or HQ408.

Some of these may have been sold as spares, so anyone who has bought a standalone battery for a G4 Powerbook since January should check.

If you have one of the batteries, stop using it immediately and contact Apple. The battery could overheat and be hazardous.

I have two G4 Powerbooks bought for my business, or at least, that was my excuse for buying them ;o)

Neither machine is affected but a spare battery (never used so far) is one of those listed.

Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated.
