copying videos to computer is easier on a Mac

I also understand that the software to edit the resulting vidoes before burning to DVD comes with every Mac. Is this correct?

I copy my videos to my PCs using both XP and W7 and it couldn't be easier.

Does that still apply if they are high definition files stored on an SD card from a Panasonic camcorder?

I have a Panasonic HD Camcorder with SD card. I take the SD card out put into the card reader on my Vista PC and transfer the files using the Panasonic HD Writer program. The length of time depends on the size of the file. HD files can be large. I doubt if it would be any easier on a Mac.
If you are thinking of editing HD then you need a good processor, RAM and a large hard drive and a blu-ray writer helps too otherwise you will not get a HD disc.

I purchased my camcorder secondhand, without the Panasonic software. Have you succeeded in transferring without the software?

Copy and paste.

Which model Panasonic did you get?

Or drag and drop instead of copy and paste.

Which OS?

Computer, either XP or Vista.

Do you mean HDC-SD9 as I cannot find a 509?

  manrow 08:32 16 Oct 10

You are quite right, it is an HDC SD9. I have read differing reviews on the Panasonic software, generally not very complimentary; can I edit the data in ither ways?
