CD-ROMS won't run on different machines

  tootrock 22:57 20 Jun 04

I have just bought a new PC and when reloading software some discs will not run, although there is no problem on the old machine. Others run fine.

Similarly a disc I have burned myself on the old machine will only allow me to see its contents on the new, not access the files (.doc, .xls, .htm)

Any ideas?

i have never had any compatabittity problem between disc drives and cdroms but i have heard it does happen. what brands of disc, drive and speeds were the discs burned at?

the only thing i can suggest if the old drive can still read the discs is to temporaraly install the old cd drive into the new machine and loading the software from it.

copy files and folders to desktop and then install the new drive and burn a new disc when you re install the new drive back again.
