Apple Mac on a XP network

  scooper 18:51 27 Jan 06

I am trying to connect my Apple Mac to an existing 3 PC Windows XP Home SP2 wireless network, the apple can see the router and connects to the internet fine, however when I try and connect to one of the shared folders on any of the existing XP machines, it challanges me for an ID & password.
I haven't set any ID's, the XP machines all talk to each other OK, it's just the apple.
What do I need to do to get the apple to be able to connect to any of the shared folders, and printer?

The ID prompt is the name you login with and the password. This should help click here

I cannot recall having been prompted for a Username or Password when accessing shared folders in a Windows PC from the Mac. I am when accessing the Mac from Windows though.

Have you got the Mac in the same "Workgroup" as the Windows PCs? This is done from "Utilities > Directory Access", highlight SMB/CIFS and click the Configure button.
