Anti-Virus Software - Two machines

My query is a simple one for you folks out there..

I have two machines which are networked together with a crossover cable.(No Router). The machine connected to the Internet runs ME, and the client machine runs.XP. As I have NAV on the ME machine, and as all internet traffic comes via this machine, is it neccessary to have Anti-Virus software on the client machine.

I would shove AVG onto the client,as I dont rate Norton software.I would definately put an anti virus onto it tho',as even sharing the net connection thru a protected pc,there is still the chance of a virus/trojan getting to it,and your unlikely to notice if its infected without a means to check.
