80gb hard drive in old machine

Im trying to revive an old packard bell club 60 desktop, as a cheap system.
The probloem ive got is that the hard drive im installing is an 80gb maxtor, and the system wont recognize it in the bios or auto detect the size of it.
The hard drive is fully working as i tried it in another machine.
I know older pc's have issues with the maxium hard drive size you can use but is there anyone that would know if this model has, ive scoured the net for info but havent found an answer, or if the size limit can be got around, any help would be appricated.

Go to the Maxtor site - read about the issues, and download Maxblast. Maxblast contains a utility which will (in most cases) fool the BIOS into accepting higher capacity drives. click here= see item 13
