iPad 5 release date

The iPad 5 release date is a hot topic already. iPad 5 release date

At the minute there are two major iPad 5 release date rumours doing the rounds. First up is the possible iPad 5 release date of early 2013 - traditionally Apple waits until March for its first big launch of a calendar year. This iPad release date rumour is baed on a report produced by Ming-Chi Kuo, who is an analyst for KGI Securities (a global investment a financial services company). Kuo suggested that the launch of the Microsoft Surface has forced Apple's hand to release a thinner iPad 5 "as quickly as possibly". Go to Microsoft Surface RT vs Apple iPad comparison review.

The second date that seems to be gaining a bit of momentum is the mid-2013 iPad 5 release date, first picked up by DigiTimes. DigiTimes reports on a supplier to Apple, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, expecting a strong start to 2013 due to the manufacturing of parts for a new iPad which is set to launch "around the middle of 2013".

In our experience, we'd say that neither of these reports are rock solid, far from it in fact. However, both dates are around the sort of time that Apple has previously launched big products in the past.

iPad 5 specs

Rumoured iPad 5 specs are pretty thin on the ground right now. However, ol' Ming-Chi Kuo's report (mentioned above) suggested that he expects one major new feature of the iPad 5 to be how thin it is.

Kuo says that the iPad 5 will use the GF2 touchscreen technology. GF2 was used in the iPad mini, and this was a main reason as to how Apple could pretty much replicate the original iPad's specs in an iPad Mini that is 23 percent thinner than the initial Apple tablet PC.
