And you don't need to fork out lots of cash to watch TV and movies on your iPhone. There are plenty of free apps available that offer this functionality. Here's ten free apps that let you watch movies and TV shows on your iPhone.

Watch TV free live with TV Catchup

This free app allows Brits the ability to watch live broadcasts from over 50 channels including BBC, ITV, Channel4 and Film for free on their iPhone. The app lets you stream content over both 3G and Wi-Fi and even offers a what's on now and next guide.

BBC iPlayer

The BBC's dedicated iPlayer app for the iPhone not only lets users watch live broadcasts from BBC channels but it also lets you catch-up on TV broadcast over the last seven days. You can stream content over Wi-Fi and 3G and just like the desktop version, you even add shows to your Favourites so they're ready and waiting to be watched as soon as a new episode is available.

Sky Go

This app lets Sky subscribers access live broadcasts from all five Sky Sports channels, ESPN, Sky New, Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts and 11 Sky Movies channels from their device.

ITV Player

Catch-up on shows broadcast on ITV channels using your Apple iPhone. There's unlimited viewing with the ITV Player app but you'll need a Wi-Fi connection to watch programmes.

This app bring classic cartoons and movies to your iPhone, although you will need a Wi-Fi connection to stream them.

Crackle – Movies & TV

Crackle specialises in offering movies that you can watch over Wi-Fi and 3G on your Apple smartphone for free.

This app lets you watch a selection of programmes broadcast on Channel 5 over the past days on your smartphone.

If you fancy streaming channels from around the world then this app allows you watch over 100 channels from across the globe from your Apple smartphone.


Like other offerings from the UK's main broadcasters, the 4OD app provides a selection of shows broadcast over the past 30 days that can be streamed on your iPhone using 3G or Wi-Fi.
