Best iPhone apps: Five property-related apps

Apps for buyers, sellers and those just being plain nosey

Looking for somewhere to live is a time consuming job, whether you're pounding the pavement looking at properties or simply starting your search online. Fear not, your trusty smartphone can come in handy when it comes seeking out the perfect home, thanks to hundreds of apps that let you do everything from searching for properties to snooping on what houses in other postcode areas sold for. Here's five of our favourite property-related iPhone apps.

Empty Homes Spotter

According to Channel 4 show, The Great British Property Scandal, there are one million empty homes in the UK, not all of which are known to British councils. This app helps you report an empty home by locating the property on the map. The details will then be sent to the relevant council in the hope it can be renovated and used to hours on of the two million families that currently don't have a place to call home.

Findaproperty.com search app

Using the Findaproperty.com search app you can utilise your iPhone's GPS functionality to find and review homes for sale and rent in and around your current location, rather than pacing the streets of the UK in a bid to locate your dream home.

UK mortgage calculators

With this simple app you can quickly and easily discover how much you can borrow for a mortgage based on your solo or joint salaries, as well as how much the monthly repayments will be and even compare two mortgages side-by-side.

Postcode Envy

This app may cost 69p, but we think that's a small price to pay for the ability to snoop on postcode areas in the UK and find out exactly how much houses sold for in these areas.

If you're looking for a room to rent rather than a home to buy then this app can help you. Thousands of rooms for rent in flat-shares across the UK. Alternatively, you can advertise your own spare room in a bid to secure a flatmate.
