The retailer, which has a two-week exclusive on the device, has the 16GB Wi-Fi only version of the tablet PC available for £399, while the £32GB version with Wi-Fi costs £499, although Dixons says it won't be available until September 23. Both are available to pre-order now. A 16GB version with Wi-Fi and 3G is also listed, with a price of £499, but there's no delivery date available and it can't be pre-ordered either.
The Sony Tablet S features a slate design and has a 9.4in screen. At first glance it looks similar to most competing tablets, but look more closely at its profile and you'll see it's shaped like a wedge. The upper portion of the tablet is thicker than the lower portion and that makes it easier to hold. Powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 mobile processor, the tablet PC runs Google Android version 3.1, also known as Honeycomb.
Last week, Sony revealed that the Tablet S and the Tablet P – a folding device equipped with dual 5.5in screens – will be made available in September and November this year, respectively. The tablet PCs were first announced in April.
