Google's rumoured Nexus 8 tablet could be made by LG with the codename LG-V510.
Nexus 8 rumours are back with notorious leaker @evleaks suggesting that LG could be making the tablet. Google teamed up with LG for the Nexus 5 and with no sign of the Nexus 10, thoughts are turning to what's next for the firm's tablet line-up.
Speculation around the Nexus 8 started when Google launched Android 4.4 KitKat and used an image of an unknown tablet bigger than the Nexus 7 (above). Nothing came of it and Google even failed to launch a new 2013 version of the Nexus 10.
The trustworthy Twitter account now says that the LG-V510 is linked to Google. A database entry says "USG/GOOGLE_OPEN_16G (UNITED STATES)" along with the product code under 'buyer'. So this device could well be the Nexus 8.
If the V510 isn't vapourware, the tablet is likely to be based on LG's G Pad 8.3. That tablet has the product code V500. The G Pad 8.3 has a 1920 x 1200 resolution, quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 5Mp rear camera.
It's unclear when Google will announce the Nexus 8, if it exists, but it will be a closer rival to the iPad mini than the Nexus 7 owing to the iPad's 7.9in screen size.
The LG V510 tablet is indeed a Nexus device. [via tip] pic.twitter.com/hhKZ2B9NtQ— @evleaks (@evleaks) December 8, 2013
