Unisys' 'breakthrough' fabric-based technology, Forward, is now available for delivery to Australian customers.
According to a company statement, Forward brings unmatched levels of mission-critical security, availability, scalability and predictable computing performance to workloads running on Intel-based servers.
The new platform combines the company's advanced secure partitioning (s-Par) technology with Intel Xeon family processors and virtualisation technology into what it says is a powerful, secure, highly flexible fabric architecture able to handle clients' most demanding mission-critical computing challenges, on an industry-standard platform.
Unisys says it will run secure Cloud and big data workloads, boosting the performance of ERP applications such as SAP, addressing server sprawl by consolidating datacentre resources, and migrating from legacy systems that use the Unix operating environment.
Unisys estimates that, compared to competitive Unix systems, the Forward platform can cut capital expenses up to 60 per cent and reduce total cost of ownership up to 40 per cent.
Compared to physical Linux or Windows environments, a partitioned platform can eliminate up to 70 per cent of physical servers and reduce software licensing and hardware maintenance costs by as much as 70 per cent. Unisys president, Dominick Cavuto, said the availability of the platform was the culmination of years of innovative thinking and an attempt to bring a new paradigm to the enterprise computing market.
