What is Nomophobia?
It’s the fear of being out of mobile contact - apparently a very real phenomenon for many people.
News of the rise of nomophobia spread suspiciously on April 1 2008 – but the idea that people could get stressed away from their mobile doesn’t seem ridiculous at all.
Experts say nomophobia could affect up to 53 per cent of mobile phone users. Keeping in touch with friends and family is the number-one reason why these people are so scared to lose their mobile. Noimophobia is a special fear for Apple iPhone users who are terrified of having to go back to a cell phone with real buttons.
Watch out for Faceoffobia – the fear of not knowing what your Facebook chums are doing at this very moment. Or Twitophobia – fear of your Facebook friends suddenly switching to rival social network site Twitter.
