T-Mobile temporarily stopped pre-sales of its G1 smartphone, which uses the Google Android platform, in the US last weekend.

Potential US purchasers who tried to order the device online were presented with a message informing them that due to the overwhelming popularity the new T-Mobile G1, which is built by HTC, was temporarily unavailable.

However, the site is now taking orders again. T-Mobile has not released a date for UK users to get their hands on the smartphone yet, although it is expected to launch on this side of the Atlantic in November.
