Sony always goes big at IFA, and IFA 2014 is set to be a particularly big show for the Japanese tech giant. We'll be bringing you live coverage of the Sony press conference at 4.15pm on Wednesday 3 September, an event which will be presented by Sony President and CEO Kaz Hirai.

Sony says it will be 'announcing loads of brand new products', which it will then show off at the IFA 2014 event. Needless to say we will be first with the all-important hands-on reviews and buying advice. So what will those products be?

New smartwatches from Sony: SmartWatch 3 - See How to watch Sony SmartWatch 3 launch: live blog and video stream

Whether or not they become hit products, IFA 2014 will be the smartwatch show. And Sony will join the likes of Samsung and Motorola in pitching for a slice of that wearable pie.

Sony was one of the first to launch a smartwatch. Indeed it has released two wristwatch computers to date. The SmartWatch 2 was launch almost a year ago and so we expect the SmartWatch 3 to be making an appearance in Berlin this September.

What is a surprise is that the device is said to not run Android Wear, but will instead run its own OS which is very different from that of the SmartWatch 2. Other details include a higher resolution screen and built-in Wi-Fi. We'll bring you the details as we have them. New smartphones from Sony: Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact - See How to watch Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact launch: live blog and video stream

Sony likes to refresh its phones quicker than anyone else in the upper echelons of the smartphone world. The Sony Xperia Z1 and its successor the Xperia Z2 were released with only a few months between them, and the Sony Xperia Z3 (D6653) is expected to be unveiled at the 2014 IFA show.

Less likely but also a possibility is the launch of a Z3 Compact smartphone.

Disappointingly we expect the Xperia Z3 to be a full-HD rather than a Quad-HD smartphone. It's also supposedly going to keep the same 20.7Mp camera and a Snapdragon 801 processor, albeit a new improved version. Stay tuned to PC Advisor and we will bring you the new Sony smartphone news as it happens at IFA next week, as well as first-look reviews of Sony smartphones. New tablets from Sony: Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet - See How to watch Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact launch: live blog and video stream

Sony is dipping its toes into the compact tablet market with the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Thought to be an 8in waterproof device, the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will probably feature 16GB of storage and a microSD card slot, although little else is known about its spec. Sony has a rich history of innovation in the tablets market, and its latest device looks interesting.

Sony recently accidentally showed off a photograph of someone using the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Just prior to that it leaked out in the user guide for a Bluetooth speaker that the device  is compatible with the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Finally, today a specs page for the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet accidentally listed the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. It is definitely coming.

And when it does we expect the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact to feature an 8in TRILUMINOS screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Performance will be taken care of with a quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801MSM8974AC and 3GB of RAM. But we expect only 16GB of onboard storage. Leaks suggest the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will have an 8MP camera, and a 5000mAh battery.

We also expect an update to the excellent Xperia Z2 Tablet, but we don't know a great deal about the upcoming Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet. See also: Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact release date, price and specs UK: Sony is working on a smaller Xperia tablet.
