Google Nexus 5 Bright Red

The rumoured red model of the Google Nexus 5 smartphone is official and on sale now.

After many leaked photos and speculation Google has launched a new 'Bright Red' version of its popular Nexus 5 smartphone. It's on sale now on the Google Play store for the same £299 price as the original black and white models. Read our Nexus 5 vs iPhone 5S comparison review.

"Show off your personality with Nexus 5 in Bright Red" said Google.

The Google Play store currently says the new edition 'leaves warehouse in 1-2 business days' but if demand is as high as when the handset first launched, this will be pushed this back.

Carphone Warehouse is also selling the new version of the Android 4.4 KitKat device and you can save £1 by getting it there. That's right, the UK retailer is selling the red Nexus 5 for £298 or customers can opt for a contract starting from £21 per month.

"The all new Nexus 5 in red couples the latest mobile processor with pure Android software and a fiery design to create one of the most impressive and up to date phones around." said Carphone Warehouse.

Aside from the massive colour difference, the Bright Red Nexus 5 remains the same with a 5in Full HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and an 8Mp rear camera with optical image stabilisation.

Owners of the black or white Nexus 5 can still add a splash of colour if they're feeling a bit envious. A bumper in the same Bright Red colour is available as well as Bright Yellow and Grey. They currently have 25 percent off.
