Priced under £600, the Lenovo IdeaPad G570 has an impressive set of specifications that includes an Intel Sandy Bridge processor and discrete AMD graphics. And it works: the G570 achieved a WorldBench 6 score of 121 points, and delivered a 34fps framerate in Fear. It isn’t all about brute force, however, and the stylish Lenovo has a charcoal-grey, brushed-metal finish on the inside and a glossy back. You even get a Blu-ray drive. It’s an excellent all-rounder of a laptop that comes at a very competitive price.

About the PC Advisor Awards 2012
Our annual roll call of honour considers every piece of hardware and software that has passed through our Test Centre over the past year. We look for innovation and excellence, outstanding performance and value for money.
Only excellent products make the PC Advisor Awards shortlist, and we congratulate all the manufacturers represented on the list. If a product still looks great from the view point of up to a year after its first review, the chances are that it is great.
That does, however, mean that our PC Advisor Awards coverage is not necessarily a buyer’s guide – for that you should visit our Test Centre and Reviews. Some of the products may no longer be available, and in some categories they may have been superseded.
Whittling down the shortlist to pick out individual winners isn’t easy. In all cases arguments could be (and were) made for products other than the eventual winners. But winners there must be.
See pcadvisor.co.uk/awards for details on our other award winners
