Micro-blogging service Twitter has undergone a redesign, which the firm claims will create a more personalised experience for web users.
The new look, which is available on both Twitter's desktop site and through mobile phones, features four new tabs; Home, Connect, Discover and Me.
"We've simplified the design to make it easier than ever to follow what you care about, connect with others and discover something new," Twitter said in a blog.
The new Discover tab offers a selection of tweets, news stories and suggested users to follow based on your interests and current location.
"As you use Twitter more, Discover gets even better at serving up more content just for you," Twitter said.
The Home tab replaces the existing Timeline and displays tweets, along with images and other content, which are now embedded into tweets posted by those you follow on the micro-blogging site. Furthermore, according to Twitter, the Home tab will appear "consistently across computers, iPhones, and Android mobile phones".
Connect lets you see other users that have followed you, as well as retweeted you, mentioned you in their posts or marked one of your tweets as a favourite. Meanwhile the Me tab offers all your personal information such as who you follow, those that follow you, lists you've made and are on, along with your tweets all in one place.
The Home, Connect and Discover tabs are located at the top left of the new-look site, while the Me tab, along with the search box and the new tweet button site on the top right-hand side.
The new look will be rolled-out across both Twitter's desktop site and mobile applications and the micro-blogging site has also updated TweetDeck to reflect the redesign as well.
Twitter said the redesign will be rolled out to users over the next few weeks and should be completed by the end of Q1 next year. However, the new-look site can be seen by accessing the mobile version or the official iPhone and Android apps. An iPad app that features the new-look site is also in the works.
"What we're announcing today is just the beginning. We now have a framework in place that we will quickly build and iterate upon to help users connect with whatever is meaningful to them."
Twitter has also given the firms the ability to enhance their pages on the site with larger header images and the option to add a Promoted Tweet that will automatically be seen at the top of the page, which Twitter says will help firms to "highlight your most engaging and important content and better connect with your target audience". Furthermore, videos and images will be more easily viewable on company pages.
Dell, HP, Coca-Cola and McDonalds are among the first 21 companies to make use of this enhanced profile page.
