6 best wedding website builders: Appy Couple

Price: from $35
Click here to visit Appy Couple's website.

A little something different.

Appy Couple is a great wedding website builder for smartphone lovers, as it not only gives you a good-looking website but also a dedicated app for your guests to download.

There are hundreds of designs to choose from, with the illustrations and colours that continue across both the website and the app. Some of the designs even have matching invitations. You can change the design at any time and you can preview what it will look like before you decide to pay the one-off fee required to start working on personalising it for your wedding.

The app and website includes a gallery, information about the couple and the wedding party, a calendar of events, links to gift registries, space for you to write updates to share with your guests and even a little game for your guests to play.

Free, good-looking and simple.

eWedding is reasonably new so doesn't have many themes to choose from, but if you like one that's available you're in luck because it's an easy to use and feature-full wedding website builder that's bound to grow in popularity as more themes arrive.

It takes one click to start building your website, and it's simply a case of editing text and tweaking some imagery to get it fully up and running and ready for your guests to use.

6 best wedding website builders: The Knot

Price: Free

Lots of gorgeous themes.

The Knit is another popular wedding website builder that you may have already come across during your research, but its downfall for those of us in the UK is that it has limited registry options and they're all US-based.

However, the variety of themes available and the quick and easy editing tools might be worth the gift list sacrifice for some. It's free to use and there are matching invitations for many of the themes, too.

6 best wedding website builders: Wedding Window

Price: Free or $14.75 per month for premium
Visit Wedding Window's website.

For list-loving and organised couples.

Wedding Window offers an easy to use and reasonably flexible HTML 5 Editor which lets you take the template you've chosen and add your personal touch. You'll be able to create pages about the couple, the ceremony, other events, travel and accommodation information, a gallery, online RSVP forms and a gift registry.

It also includes a brilliant planning tool, which is a sweet added extra including guest lists, checklists and budgets.

You can sign up and start creating your website for free, but there's also the option to try the premium account with more themes, pages, photo storage space and customisation for 10 days, after which you'll pay $79 for a year or $14.95 per month.

6 best wedding website builders: Wix

Price: Free or £5.99 per month ad-free
Visit the Wix website.

For patient couples looking for optimum customisation.

Here's one for those of you with lots of time on their hands, because if you've got the patience this option is one of the best. Wix is a really easy to use website builder that isn't just for weddings. It can be used to create a website for more or less anything, and it's brilliant because it uses a web-based drag and drop editor that lets you edit absolutely everything about the website with ease.

Most of the other wedding website builders in this round-up are heavily templated and you might find that there are some limitations to them that you're not entirely happy with. However, with Wix you probably won't find anything that you're not able to do, but it's going to take some time and effort to get the site looking just how you want it.

There's a selection of wedding templates to choose from to get you started, but you can completely customise and personalise those templates (so much so that they can eventually be unrecognisable) to make your website completely unique to you.

It's free to use but you will find that you've got Wix ads on your page. To get rid of those it's £5.99 per month.

6 best wedding website builders: Zankyou

Price: Free
Visit the Zankyou website.

For couples looking for a gift list with a difference.

Zankyou offers some really great templates to choose from and is easy to customise to suit your wedding, and is especially useful if your wedding website is designed to be a bit of a gift registry in disguise.

You can build your registry, which is designed to be a more personal way to ask for money from your guests, directly into the website itself.

The only downfall is that Zankyou itself takes 2.85% of the total amount contributed and £0.85 per transaction, which can add up to a fair bit of money if your guests are particularly generous.

If you like the look of the websites you can create via Zankyou but don't want to use the registry there is the option to turn it off.
