Nearly half of the UK's small businesses don't have a website, says 1&1 internet.
According to the internet hosting company, 41 percent of businesses know that a web presence could boost their sales, but claim they don't have the time, skill or money to develop and run a website.
Oliver Mauss, CEO of 1&1 internet, said: "While many small companies today leverage the web with increasing proficiency, too many enterprises remain excluded. Every business owner should at least be aware that today a website is simple and affordable to source. Those sceptical of the benefits to their business have little to lose in experimenting and seeing the impact for themselves."
As a result of the survey, 1&1 has launched the 1&1 MyBusiness package, which helps businesses create a website quickly and easily, which can be trialed free of charge for five days and then costs £9.99 per month.
