The research firm surveyed customers at retail outlets across the continent between August and October 2008, to discover what the preferred security software brand was.
"The results also reflect the growing emphasis now being placed on IT security issues," said Ralf Tegethoff, regional director of consumer sales in Europe at Kaspersky Lab.
"The professionalism of today's cybercriminals is a far cry from the self-taught virus writers of earlier times. As a result, the quantity and, more importantly, the quality of threats have grown considerably over the last few years. We are justifiably proud of the fact that European users have chosen our technologies and solutions to protect their data."
