UK Mobile network 3 is giving its monthly tariff customers unlimited mobile data for £3 per month in a bid to eliminate "data fear and the worry of massive out-of-bundle data charges".

The move follows the network's announcement in December last year that it was giving all users of it's the One Plan, all you can eat (AYCE) data.

3 said 98 percent of its customers that upgrade their handset opt for a "high-end data-hungry device" and on average in February this year, the network's iPhone 4 customers were 488MB per month but by August this had surged to 1.2GB.

"The One Plan quickly became our number one contract tariff and our all-you-can-eat PAYG offer is our most popular bundle. We're opening up all-you-can-eat to everyone else, starting from as little as £18 per month," said Thomas Malleschitz, marketing director at Three UK.

"Our customers tell us that their use of data goes up significantly over the lifetime of their contracts, as they do more and more with their handset. All-you-can-eat data means that they don't have to worry, they can have that peace of mind for the long term on a contract of their choice."

The network's tariffs start from £15 per month, which means those opting for the unlimited data bundle will see this increase to £18 per month. The unlimited data offer will begin on October 7.
