Always wanted to attend E3 but never had the chance? You're not alone, and it's you that E3Insider.com aims to cater to with its "virtual event experience."
E3 Insider is a collaborative effort between the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and IDG Entertainment/GamePro Media. On the site, you'll be able to check out exclusive in-depth interviews, behind-the-scenes looks at the event and take a first look at some of the most hotly-anticipated video games.
"E3 is the leading computer and video game event in the world," said Rich Taylor, senior vice president for communications and industry affairs at the ESA. "Millions of enthusiasts who want to attend will now be able to have the same incredible experience as the attendees on the exhibit floor. We're proud to offer this opportunity to gamers and look forward to their enthusiasm for the innovative and remarkable entertainment that will be unveiled at E3."
E3 hasn't started yet, but you can already check out pre-show coverage and a stream of virtual booth content from exhibitors, including new announcements, screenshots and video trailers. Exhibitors will each have a "virtual booth" to collect all their latest content together, so fans of a particular company will be able to get all the hottest news in one place.
Once the show starts on June 6, E3 Insider will provide a real-time news feed, streaming video of the press conferences, video interviews and all the information you could possibly want via your computer or mobile device.
This being the age of social media, too, you'll be able to get social and see what the rest of the community thinks of what the show has to offer. A virtual show floor map will display where the most popular "booths" are, allowing visitors to see at a glance what's hot and what's slipping under the radar. You'll also be able to rate your interest in company announcements through polls, and see what everyone else thinks of this year's expo.
See you at the show!
