Square Enix has officially confirmed the release of classic Super NES RPG Chrono Trigger on the Wii's Virtual Console service.

1995's classic RPG Chrono Trigger is finally returning to a Nintendo console on May 16 thanks to the Wii's Virtual Console service.

For the uninitiated -- if such people exist -- Chrono Trigger is widely regarded as one of the best classic JRPGs of all time. Featuring an all-star collaboration between the scriptwriters of Dragon Quest, the character designer of Dragon Ball and the creators of the Final Fantasy series, the game was not only one of the best-looking and best-sounding games on the Super NES, but its captivating time travel story and multiple endings helped it become one of the most memorable, too.

Square hasn't confirmed the price, but based on past Super NES titles on the service, expect an 800 Wii Points price tag.
