The Frostbite 2-powered Need for Speed: The Run game is looking thoroughly ridiculous, what with its chaotic high speed chases, Heavy Rain-style QTE sequences and movie-like atmosphere. And EA's sparing no expense on the game's cinematic presentation, either, as we learn today that two high profile actors are taking on the lead roles in the game.

Christina Hendricks, best known for her role as Joan Harris (née Holloway) in Mad Men?, plays Sam Harper, a "woman with ambition, street smarts and a penchant for lightning fast cars." Her role in the story is to front protagonist Jack's $250 race buy-in and to act as his "ears and eyes" on the course. Hopefully she'll be offering more pearls of wisdom than a simple "easy left, hard right" sort of situation.

"It's very exciting to be a part of Need for Speed: The Run," said Hendricks. "I've never been a video game character before so this is definitely a first for me. It's been fantastic fun to do something so different and to show a different side of myself as well."

Sean Faris, meanwhile, last seen in The Vampire Diaries and Never Back Down?, and described by EA is "one of Hollywood's up and coming leading men" takes on the role of protagonist Jack, who is fleeing from a mob debt he can't pay. The player's skills will determine whether or not he makes it to New York, the $25 million prize fund and safety.

"I've definitely done my share of intense action scenes in movies but it's totally different and thrilling to actually be a character and driver in Need for Speed The Run," said Faris. "I got a kick out of seeing myself in the game. It's totally me! I'm a huge fan of the Need for Speed series, so I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the game."

Need for Speed: The Run is out on November 15 for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and 3DS. There's a demo available on Xbox Live and PSN right now.
