Optus' wholesale clients are now able to access voice over internet protocol (VoIP).
The telecommunications provider said its ipPhone express application will offer new revenue opportunities for existing partners as well as new and emerging Cloud resellers.
Optus wholesale and satellite managing director, Robert Parcell, described the offering as an exciting opportunity for the channel and a key differentiator.
"As consumer and business confidence in VoIP continues to climb and fixed revenues stagnate, our resellers have been looking for new ways to capitalise on this trend, capture new customers and claim a competitive advantage," Parcell said.
"It delivers a new revenue stream for new customers with the added advantage of being backed by Optus service and support teams. This means resellers can be assured their customers will receive the highest quality of care when needed -- a stark differentiator from other free and global VoIP providers in the market."
The telco said the new service will allow resellers to target and transfer customers from competing service providers while allowing them to keep their old number.
It claims channel partners will be able to build new products, services and bundles that include VoIP and can be offered over-the-top of any broadband service.
According to Optus, the benefits of the VoIP service include: reduced line rental and call costs; ability to make service changes, manage call forwarding, contact lists and diversions through a web agent; and the option of varied packages depending to suit specific customers needs.
