Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is giving social insights about 2014 Indian general elections through the launch of iElect - a gamified app on the Android platform that analyses social conversations.
TCS iElect has already analysed 3 million tweets and gauged people's sentiment to all top politicians, parties and issues. The solution analyses poll issues people associate with politicians and gives insight about where parties and candidates are making an impact.
iElect also captures association of top politicians with other celebrities, highlights viral tweets, captures what people are talking about, and allows users to predict, project their own calls on the elections.
In a nut shell, the company aims to reduce the plethora of information surrounding the elections to give a clear picture of this year's general elections in India.
"The TCS iElect app is a completely new way to observe, analyze and participate in the social conversations around the world's largest general elections. The users of iElect app will have access to fascinating insights and trends on a real-time basis," said Pradipta Bagchi, vice president & head corporate communication. "The app harnesses the power of social media, big data, analytics and mobility to make sense of what seems to be a complex web of conversations."
Fun and interactive event
TCS and Twitter India have teamed on making the entire election watching process fun and interactive for Indian voters.
Noting the huge number of smartphone users in India, Bagchi said that there are about 100 million first-time voters in general elections this year.
TCS expects these first-timers will use the gamified and interactive features of iElect to participate in this important event.
"We applaud TCS for their innovative iElect app that makes real time Twitter data and analytics around key political events & content accessible to every Indian," said Twitter India market director Rishi Jaitly. "The app has opened up a unique engagement opportunity with Twitter content for our users."
The Beta version of the TCS iElect app can be tried out in the PLAY store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tcs.ielect.
The iOS version will be launched soon by TCS that has leveraged its expertise in big data, cloud computing, analytics and social media to create this app.
