Hong Kong's leading B2B e-commerce platform ezTRADE facilitates transactions among business partners, and allows the use of integrated smart mobile devices for electronic data interchange

OpenText, Canada's largest IT software company specializing in enterprise information management solutions, yesterday announced its OpenText Trading Grid has been selected by GS1 Hong Kong to power Hong Kong's leading EDI (electronic data interchange) platform ezTRADE.

ezTrade contract renewed

ezTRADE is a B2B e-commerce platform provided by GS1 Hong Kong, an industry-led organization that provides global supply chain standards.

With about 2,000 users in Hong Kong and in the South China region, users of ezTRADE span across industries such as supermarkets, pharmaceuticals, food services and healthcare. Customer sectors of ezTRADE include small and medium businesses, large enterprises and government sectors.

Through its acquisition of GXS in January, OpenText has been providing trading grid services to ezTRADE members since 2000. Last month, OpenText renewed its existing contract with GS1 Hong Kong to continue to support ezTRADE, from 2014 to 2019.

Anna Lin, chief executive of GS1 Hong Kong, said: "We are delighted to continue our partnership with OpenText to provide our members with a more efficient and enhanced ezTRADE platform."

Integration cloud

Now part of OpenText's Information Exchange portfolio of products, Trading Grid is said to be "the world's largest integration cloud," claimed OpenText.

The OpenText Information Exchange suite facilitates information exchange inside and outside of organizations. It offers messaging and B2B integration services on-premise and via the cloud including secure email, large file transfer, fax and EDI within a single platform, enabling any-to-any transactions.

Built on OpenText Trading Grid, ezTRADE facilitates transactions, and allows the use of integrated smart mobile devices for EDI document exchange processes to enable real-time event notifications, transaction status inquiries and visibility to analytics.

Current ezTRADE customers include Watson's Group, Dairy Farm Group, DKSH and the Hong Kong Hospital Authority.

Wellcome has been using ezTRADE to connect with its suppliers since 1996. "[ezTRADE] streamlines our business processes by allowing us to transmit mission-critical commercial data efficiently to our suppliers' computer systems," said Wendy Lam, head of IT services at Wellcome.

DKSH Hong Kong's IT Applications Manager Ada Wong said: "ezTRADE is an important building block in our supply chain management solution. It enables us to become more responsive to our customers' demands and manage inventory more efficiently."
