It's far too easy to delete files by accident and, if you've deleted something that was stored on a network, you're in trouble as it won't be sent to your Recycle Bin. Download a trial version of Diskeeper Undelete 5.0 to a hard drive partition separate to the one where your files went Awol.
Stuff data in
If Windows' compression tools aren't powerful enough for you, you can compress and encrypt files to post on an FTP site or send by email with an application such as StuffIt. StuffIt Expander 9.5 is a free element of Stuffit Deluxe and can be used to unpack compressed files you receive.
Avoid bloated mail
Huge files can become a real headache to send and receive via the web or over email. YouSendIt can be used to send files up to 100MB in size, which can then be downloaded within 14 days of posting by whoever you list as recipients. They receive notification of waiting mail by email.
