Small businesses could now avoid re-keying orders placed on the web into a sales ledger. Financial systems house Anagram has launched software that lets web-based e-commerce systems link automatically with back-office accounting systems.
One of the problems of operating an e-commerce site is that browser-based order forms are not compatible with back-office accounting software. This is especially a problem for small business which can’t afford to pay for customised integration between website and accounting package, so they end up re-keying web orders into the sales ledger.
Until now that is. Anagram’s Encore eBis Web uses XML, an open standard derived from HTML, the language of the web, to link e-commerce applications with accounting packages. When an order is placed at the website, Encore generates an XML message that is sent to the back office accounting function and produces an XML based invoice for despatch to the customer.
The new system also addresses the common problem of the lack of purchase order documentation with web based trading, by automatically generating an XML based purchase order confirmation.
